Singer / Songwriter

Aidita grew up in America with a Panamanian mother and African American father.

Her father played saxophone with an air force band, who recorded an album with Quincy Jones. As a child she was always around music so it has always been in her soul. She started singing as soon as she could talk and started performing from age 2, at home and at parties from age 6, she knew from then that this was what she wanted to do, and worked hard to be the best she could. Aidita has been on her own from the age of 13, and has travelled all over the US, taking part in talent shows for cash prizes and any gigs that offered finance for survival. She also got involved with some theatre and acting work and was invited to sing “The Lords Prayer” for the only Black Bishop in the US in Baltimore.

Aidita has worked with many top US artists and musicians, like Ray Parker Jnr. and Almac Kay (from Earth Wind Fire), they believe in her talent and are intrigued that she wants to sing Rock, when other young artists are doing r’n’b. She took part in a show called “Spirit Travellers” which was a live all star show with some of the best guitarists and musicians in the US and was picked to perform a Tina Turner song, following that Tina Turner requested her to do a version of River Deep, Mountain High with Spacey T. from “In Living Colour”.

Whilst taking part in a contest, Aidita met Phyllis Nelson, after this she and Phyllis became “sisters”, and performed together. She was with Phyllis when she wrote such hits as “Move Closer” and it was she who encouraged Aidita to start writing her own material. When Phyllis passed away, Aidita wrote the song “Sugar Girl” in tribute to her.

After making this transition, Aidita worked with Vincent Wilburn, (Miles Davis’ nephew), as one of first artists to sign to Miles Davis’ production company. She also worked with Ricky Rouse (Chaka khan’s Musical Director at a show case for Universal), and has performed a private show for Dionne Warwick, at her house.

In 2005 Aidita was invited to sing a duet with George Clinton, at an event for Parliament in Santa Monica. She also sang at the Mobo Awards 2005 in London, the Africa Unite - pre show at the Hippodrome, with artists such as Two Face and Acon.

Her latest partnership is with UK production house Transdub Music Group, working with Simon J Harrison, Michael Henry and Jon Hawkesford.

Aidita is one of a kind!
